Back in 1923, Kazimir Malevich (1878-1935), co-founder of modern art and inventor of constructivism and suprematism, had such difficulties casting his own teapots that fewer than half-a-dozen were made. Even with their problems the Malevich originals were icons of the Russian avant garde. They rank among the most important pieces of functional modern sculpture of the twentieth century.
