'I moved to the UK (from Australia) when I was 23, wanting to see the world and work in fashion,' she says. Ten years later, having secured a job at Vogue, Pippa bought her own place – a tiny flat within striking distance of Hyde Park -which, she says, 'was all I could afford.'

'I'd only ever been interested in fashion, but you get to a certain age and you're excited by cushions as well as dresses, and I was enjoying that,' she laughs.
