Green T. House ................!!!!
It launched in 1997 by musician, artist, trendsetter and tea connoisseur, Ms. Zhang Jin Jie (aka JinR), as a simple tea house, 3 tables that would serve as a cultural hub for fellow artists and musicians.

Within 5 years, JinR had turned her hand to haute cuisine, revolutionised Beijing’s restaurant scene, been described by Time Magazine as “China’s first celebrity chef” and in the process had developed a unique cultural brand in Green T. House.

Architects extrastudio
Location Setubal, Portugal
Project team Joao Ferrao, Joao Costa Ribeiro, Madalena Atouguia and Sonia Oliveira
Client Rogerio Silveira
Contractor Sergio Cachão unipessoal lda
Project Area 35 sqm
Project year 2007
Photographs Joao Morgado

extrastudio was commissioned to create a concept for a Portuguese delicacies shop that would also work as a café. Combining these two complementary functions required the creation of a unique space, that could be as extraordinary as the products the client was proposing to sell and as cozy as a neighborhood café.

The construction works started with the opening of a large shop window, exposing the café to the square, as a preview for a future terrace. The furniture is composed by a set of used hardwood chairs from the old assembly room of Setubal’s Fish Industry Union, together with tables with marble tops from Alentejo.

New shelves were carved on the thick exterior walls to display a wide range of products. The bar, clad with typical Portuguese ceramic tiles, divides the working areas from the public space. In the ceiling, laser cut plywood panels; duplicate the pattern used on the counter tiled walls.
